About the Artist
Visual art, and glass in particular, is my first love and third profession. Between the courses needed for a BA in Liberal Arts, a MS in Information Systems, and certification in Advanced Program Management from the Defense Systems Management College, I completed multiple art classes. These classes were rewards for slogging through several computer language and architecture courses with no innate talent. My work is influenced by three semesters of design, two of drawing, and two of oil painting supplemented by weeks long external classes in watercolor, pottery, stained glass construction, concentration in lead construction, fusing glass, traditional glass painting, glass fusing and slumping, and two glass casting classes. Living in Northern Virginia also allowed me to take short workshops in framing, advanced stained glass design, lamp-making, sculpting the human head in clay, wire sculpture, and jewelry 101. After working with papier mache' for four years, I took a beginner's stained glass class in 2001 and got hooked on light. I believe glass is the loveliest and most versatile medium in existence.
Originally from Lowell, Massachusetts, after living in VA for over 30 years, I moved with my husband, Len, from Woodbridge, VA, to Wilmington, NC in June of 2010. He's originally from Thomasville, NC. We picked Wilmington because of the climate, city, art scene, university, airport, medical capabilities, fishing and boating, and what seemed to be some of the nicest people we met on the eastern coast.
We have three marvelous children, one resides in Fredericksburg, VA, and two in Austin, TX. Our three grandchildren live in Texas.
I make unique glass art works and enjoy working with clients and galleries.
